Millwrights
Becoming a Millwright means joining a highly technical and precision-driven trade where problem-solving and accuracy are critical. Millwrights are specialists in the installation, alignment, maintenance, and repair of the heavy machinery that powers modern industry and supports the economy.
Their work includes rigging and hoisting equipment, assembling and dismantling machinery, and precisely aligning and adjusting mechanical systems, often to tolerances as fine as one-thousandth of an inch. Millwrights are employed across many industries, ensuring that assembly lines, pumps, gears, valves, compressors, generators, conveyors, and power turbines operate safely, reliably, and at peak efficiency.
Millwrights must have strong math and geometry skills, mechanical aptitude, and welding knowledge. Attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety are also essential to succeeding in this demanding and rewarding trade.
