Become a Skilled Tradesperson

An apprenticeship is a unique opportunity that blends classroom instruction with hands-on, on-the-job training without the college debt. As an apprentice, you earn a livable wage while you learn, gaining practical experience in a real work environment. Apprenticeships help you develop lifelong skills and provide access to ongoing training, ensuring you continue to grow your knowledge and enhance your employability throughout your career.

Pre-Apprenticeship

Michigan's Pre-Apprenticeship programs help adults ages 18 and older explore careers in the skilled trades while building the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Participants gain hands-on experience with basic carpentry, learn to use power tools safely and efficiently, develop essential workplace skills, and gain valuable exposure to construction careers. Pre-apprenticeships help prepare participants to apply for and begin a paid, four-year union apprenticeship that combines on-the-job training with state-of-the-art classroom instruction.
